Blog Post 2
This week I downloaded the shape file wgi_shapefile_feb2012.zip from the National Snow and Ice Data Center World Glacier Inventory, Version 1. I added a base map to the data so I would see it mapped out in each continent. And I added the Average yearly temperature layer to my map. The citation for the data is: Countries World - Average Yearly Temperature (June 11th, 2014) [ArcGIS Online]. Esri Data and Maps. ArcGIS Online: [October 11th, 2018]. I then added a layer showing the total CO2 emissions in metric tons. The citation for the data is, World Bank - CO2 Emissions (April 20th, 2018) [ArcGIS Online]. Esri, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee, United States. ArcGIS Online: [October 11th, 2018]. The world imagery base map that I originally had on, ended up turning off the layer (unchecked it in the table of contents) and am deciding whether or not I want to turn it back on or not for future reference.
Next week I will analyze the date that I have laid out on the map and try to find some information to see if there is a way to show the movement of the glaciers on my map. Perhaps I will have to show the data as polygons rather then points. However, first I have to see if that is even possible. If not, then I will go straight to analyzing the data that I have collected and compiled on the map.
